What Is Bioremediation?

calendar 26 September 2022

It is a branch of biotechnology that deals with living organisms like microbes and bacteria that are used to purify the pollutants of water and soil. However, bioremediation process is used to remove oil spills and water pollutants from the water. In other words, it is also known as the absorption technology which is used to remove toxins and pollution from the water and soil.

How Many Types Of Bioremediation Are There?

Bioremediation is a kind of waste management technique that is used to clean water and soil. Bioremediation does not use chemicals for purifying water or soil. Let us have a look at the types of bioremediation.

  • Bio stimulation: In this process, scientists use bacteria to stimulate the purification process. This process is considered as the best pollutants cleaning method which cleans up all the pollutants quickly and this is done by the microbes and bacteria.
  • Bio augmentation: There are certain places where we can see the bio augmentation process. It is mostly used to remove the pollutants from municipality wastes where the bio augmentation process is applied.
  • Intrinsic bioremediation: It is one of the most effective processes of cleaning the pollutant in the underground area because this is the only way of removing the pollutants from the covered areas where you other processes cannot work. Hence it becomes important to use intrinsic bioremediation to remorse these sorts of pollutants.

What Types Of Bacteria Are Used In Bioremediation?

Bioremediation is the process of cleaning the pollutants from water and soil with the help of microorganisms. Let us have a look at those bacteria which are mostly used in bioremediation technology.

  • Pseudomonas: It is a microorganism used to clean up the pollutant in water and soil.
  • Dechloromonas: It is one of the effective microorganisms used to purify water and soil at a greater scale.
  • Methylibium Petroleiphibuim: It is also used to remove chemical and other pollutants from the water and soil.
  • Bioremedistors: They are considered as the best natural cleaners that is why they are used as natural cleaner to clean the water as well soil.

What Are The Types Of Phytoremediation?

Phytoremediation is also a subset of bioremediation which is also used to clean up water pollutants as well as soil pollutants. There are six types of phytoremediation used to clean up water and soil pollutants. Apart from this, there are many studies that have proved that the use of phytoremediation is good for the environment. There are some phytoremediation plants which use below mentioned pollutant cleaning process to clean the pollutant from the water and soil.

  • Phytosequestration: These are the plants which are used to clean up the water and soil and these are the sort of plant which uses their roots to clean up the water and soil.
  • Rhizodegradation: This process is used to stimulate the rhisophere bacteria to maintain the biodegradation of soil.
  • Phytohydraulics: In this process, long root trees are used to clean up the pollutants of water and soil.
  • Phytoextraction: They suck the pollutants from the water and soil. This process is mostly used to remove the heavy metals from the ground water.
  • Phytovolatalisation: microorganism is also used in this process which sucks up the pollutants from the water and soil.
  • Phytodedradation: All the pollutants are consolidated in the plant tissues where metabolism takes place.

In addition to this, the use of phytoremediation in water and soil can be seen in the oceans because sometimes we see crude oil spill in the water which is removed by using this process.

What Is Mycoremediation?

It is also one of the forms of bioremediation which is used to degrade the chemical substance of water and soil. This process is also used to remove the leaked oil and gases from the water and soil. It is biological process in which fungi and mushrooms are used to remove pollutants from the water and soils. Apart from this, mycoremediation is also used to produce the toxic less species of mushrooms. These are also known as digestive enzymes which are also used to decompose heavy metals and other substances. It is considered one of the cost-effective method to curb the pollutants from the water and soil and it is considered as one of the oldest methods used to clean up the water and soil both.

What Is The Importance Of Bioremediation?

Bioremediation is the process used to clean up the water and soil from diesel, petrol and other substance of crude oil and it is also useful for cleaning the pollutants from the air as well. Bioremediation is considered as the best cleaner of bioremediation. Bioremediation is the branch of biotechnology which uses microorganisms to purify the water and soils. Bioremediation is greatly used to clean up the oil spills in the oceans because most crude oil is imported through oceans, hence it is very often in sea routes while importing and exporting the crude oil.

What Is The Importance Of Bioremediation For The Environment?

Bioremediation process supports the environment because, in the bioremediation process, we use plants, fungi and many other organisms to clean up the water and soil which is part of the environment hence we can say that bioremediation is helpful for the maintenance of environment. Apart from this, bioremediation is useful for detoxifying the water and sewage lines where a variety of pollutants are founded. Municipality uses this process to remove these pollutants from these places as well as other place where the content of plastic and crude oil found.

Furthermore, the students who are pursuing the higher education in science need to write an array of assignments on such topics, thus they need help with science assignment to complete the assignment.
